Artists in Residence
Sally McFlores is a devoted digital DJ, passionate about the art of "matching beats" and storytelling through hip-hop, dance electronica, and world music. His musical sessions, whether upbeat or down-tempo, are crafted to take listeners on a journey, blending diverse genres to create a unique and immersive experience.
As the DJ for The Voodoo Cabaret, Sally is part of a ritualistic, shamanistic, musical, and theatrical performance that educates audiences about West African culture. This innovative show combines his love for music with a deeper cultural narrative, making each performance a profound and enlightening experience.
In addition to his DJ work, Sally made his debut in the photography world with a fundraiser for Bay Positives in San Francisco. Inspired by this success, he is eager to replicate this blueprint for nonprofits in Vallejo. When he's not serving coffee at Moschetti Cafe or preparing for his next fundraiser, he enjoys hand sewing and continues to captivate audiences with his exceptional DJ skills.
Leonel, a self-taught artist from San Francisco, California, has been creating art since childhood. He became a public artist in 2018 and has primarily focused on portrait painting. His work captures the essence of his subjects with a unique and personal touch.
In addition to portraits, Leonel also enjoys painting landscapes and animals. His versatility allows him to explore different themes and techniques, constantly evolving his artistic style. Each piece reflects his deep appreciation for the natural world and its inhabitants.
Leonel is always interested in collaborating with other artists and is available for commissions. He believes that working with others fosters creativity and innovation, pushing the boundaries of his own artistic practice. Whether it's a custom portrait, a scenic landscape, or an animal painting, Leonel brings passion and skill to every project.
Welcome to my studio!
Creativity has always been a part of me, thanks to my mother’s encouragement. With a diverse background in manufacturing, engineering, wedding and portrait photography, and an enduring passion for trying new things, my artistic voice is constantly evolving.
Currently, I create fiber art pieces, dolls, and sculptures. I am always experimenting with new techniques and often combine different mediums, such as incorporating fabric and air-dry clay into a papier-mâché sculpture with found objects.
In my downtown studio, I offer small workshops that promote using everyday items, including things that would normally be discarded. Our Saturday workshops are casual, crafty, and always free! Sign up for my mailing list to get information on workshops where you can explore various art mediums and unleash your creativity.
Let’s make art together!
